Broncos and Patriots engage in the war of the honorary captains
Sometimes battles between two teams are fought on the field. You know, by playing the game of football.
Other times, they're fought on twitter. In fact, most battles are fought on twitter these days. The Patriots and Broncos got things started with that kind of battle. Sort of.
This was the most minor kind of battles. In fact, you could go as far as to say it wasn't a battle at all. You could say it was coincidence.
But who would be so naive!? This was the war of the honorary captains!
Yesterday, the Broncos announced that former Pro Bowl receiver Rod Smith would be serving as their honorary captain for Sunday's AFC Championship game.

Oh, so you're going to go and steal the Patriots mojo by honoring a former player, huh? Well, two can play at that game, Denver.
Later that day, the Patriots made their own announcement.
Willie McGinest will be our honorary captain at Sunday's AFC Championship! http://t.co/6F7Orl8NgF pic.twitter.com/azNOfCW6k9

Take that!
You bring your former player with two super bowl rings? We'll bring our former player with three!
How about them apples, Denver???!!
I want to thank the Patriot organization for the huge honor of honorary captain for this week's Afc championship game against Denver!
