Ed Reed signs with New York Jets
And the saga was over before it even began. Star safety Ed Reed was released by the Houston Texans this week and passed through waivers. There was much speculation on whether the Pats would sign him or not after the mutual admiration that's been expressed between Reed and Patriots coach Bill Belichick. That won't be happening though.
According to ESPN, Reed will be heading to New York to reunite with his former coach Rex Ryan.

Reed might have a good shot at increased playing time in New York, and will feel right at home in Rex Ryan's scheme. The Patriots do not play the Jets again this year, but if the playoffs ended today New York would be in 6th wild card, setting up a potential post-season matchup.
Reports indicated that talks between Reed and the Pats never got serious, if they were even had at all.
