Report: Ed Reed not in the cards for Patriots, but is for the Jets
Not surprisingly, it's quiet on the Patriots' front on star safety Ed Reed, who was recently released by the Houston Texans. And Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that it could stay that way.
Ed Reed's options included the Jets (possibly) but not the Patriots, Ravens or Colts. Not sure about Saints. As of late last night.

Reed is maybe the greatest safety to play the game, but he was released for a reason. He may not be entirely healthy, he's lost a step due to age and he made a stir in the media because hew as upset with a reduced role.
Due to the Patriots' need at safety, though its at Strong Safety not Free Safety like Reed plays, and Belichick's constant praising of the player in the media the two teams have been linked. Belichick was mum on Reed when asked yesterday, but that's to be expected. The Jets have connections to Reed through Rex Ryan, former Baltimore defensive coordinator.
Things can still change, but at this moment Reed in Navy looks unlikely.
