Fantasy Fix: Week 12 Deep Sleepers
You don’t need your humble-but-nonetheless-handsome Guru to tell you this is a big week for us Fantasy Fixers. Week 12 means you have entered the stretch run and the Fantasy playoffs are in sight. Whether you’re trying to improve your playoff position, sneak in as a Wild Card, or ruin your friends year, you need to finish the season strong.
Here are some deep sleepers – players owned 30% or less in most leagues – that could save your season and send you to the Shiva.
Here are some deep sleepers – players owned 30% or less in most leagues – that could save your season and send you to the Shiva.
Quarterback
Ryan Fitzpatrick, (TEN) at Oak: Fitzpatrick has averaged about 15 points in his last two starts and gets a Raiders team that has given up the 7th most FPPG to QBs the last 5 weeks. I know Fitzy is not the most exciting quarterback out there and his Harvard education does no good on the gridiron unless finding the hypotenuse of a right triangle gives you points. Damn geometry leagues.
Running Back
Chris Ogbonnaya, (CLE) vs. Pit: Last week Bobby Rainey was our deep sleeper and he went off for 35 Fantasy points. You’re welcome. Buy me a drink later. The OBGYN played 46 snaps last week with 14 touches including 12 targets, so he’s getting the work and should get some love this week.
Wide Receiver
Rod Streater, (OAK) vs. Ten: Streater had over 15 Fantasy points last week on six catches for 84 yards and a score. He faces a tough Titans D this week that has not allowed a touchdown to a receiver since Week 2. Why take a chance on Streater? Remember, this blog is about deep sleepers.
Tight End
Fred Davis (WAS) vs. SF: With Jordan Reed now ruled out with a concussion, Davis will get the start. Somehow Davis ended up in coach Mike Shanahan’s doghouse and has just three catches this year. Davis will have a chance to redeem himself on Sunday or it’s back to sleeping outside.
Defense/Special Teams
Cleveland Browns vs. Pit: The Browns have averaged about eight Fantasy points in their last three games and added a score last week. The Steelers are a decent matchup, but here’s hoping you have something better. The Dawg Pound is more like Pound Puppies.
