Armond Armstead unlikely to play this year, according to Bill Belichick
Patriots fans hoping to get some extra support on that defensive line from CFL standout Armond Armstead will be sorely disappointed.
The defensive lineman from USC was not drafted due to some heart issues when he was coming out of college. He landed with the CFL and turned many heads there and the Patriots picked him up this offseason. There were high hopes that Armstead could be the next Cameron Wake, but he never saw the field.
He was placed on the Reverse/Injured list, and the clock is ticking for him to return. Bill Belichick doesn't seem to be convinced that this will happen.
Belichick said it's "less likely" for Armstead to begin practicing this week, which is his deadline.

Certainly not a major blow since the team has been without him all year, but they could use more depth on that defensive line and Armstead at least offered hope of being a stud there. The team will have to continue on with their current group and hope that Chris Jones, Joe Vellano and Isaac Sopoaga can all stay healthy.
