Dennard has been in practice 8 times all season, but was out for the past few practices, and NO it is not for an arrest, but for rest instead. The injury was not specified as anything more than minor, but he did take the day off to re-coup and build energy. The
Boston Globe reports that Dennard dealt with injuries as a rookie, so this latest ailment has to be frustrating. He missed the majority of training camp with a hamstring injury that also kept him out of the first four games of the regular season. He suffered through a knee injury later in the year. Dennard then injured his shoulder during the Pats’ organized team activities and missed minicamp in June.
In Dennard’s absence late last week, Devin McCourty shifted from safety to right corner, and Kyle Arrington also spent more time with the starting role on the right side. Third-round draft pick Logan Ryan earned reps in nickel situations. Ras-I Dowling, who had a strong run of offseason workouts, has also been injured for the last few days.
These knee and hamstring injuries have plagued Dennard in the past, and for the Patriots, they can certainly do without them this year.
