Blessing in disguse.
The Patriots played horribly, so horrible I even got a few texts from people who normally don't talk about the Patriots, telling me about how horrible they played. While I ignored it and tried defending them, it came to me that the blowout loss is no big deal and in fact will help the Pats.
This team is full of young players, furthermore, this team is relying on players who didn't hear their name get called on draft day. Aside from the Brady scare, this team so far coming out of the off-season has been unstoppable. The first team offense looked unstoppable in both games against the Eagles and Bucs, and didn't play too bad against the Lions. While fumbling the ball away was a huge problem and the o-line didn't hold very well, just remember that the Lions have one of the best d-lines in all of football, as for the turnovers. It's early in the year, it's best for them to get the fumbling out now rather than later in the year.
The whole point I'm trying to make here is this, if this team went 4-0 and looked great throughout the entire preseason. This team wouldn't have handled any adversity like they are now following a blow out loss. Offensive line issues (which is something I thought might be a problem coming in) should be filed out. While the fumbling issues, well keep in mind it was from players who weren't expected to do much aside from maybe Vereen. Sudfeld fumbled, but I don't really think that's a concern and since he's worked this hard to get here, I highly doubt he's going to fumble the ball away from week to week. Bolden fumbled as well, but he's pretty far on the depth chart.
Two quick positives, Thompkins played VERY well again. And the first team defense stood tall given the fact they had to defend a short field over and over.
