Is the Brady/Belichick legacy hurt by recent playoff slump?

I was very reluctant to use the word 'slump', because it is hard to consider a run to the Super Bowl to be a complete and utter failure. Even still though, the Patriots have not won a Super Bowl since 2004. Since then they made it to the big game two more times, but ultimately fell just short of the grand prize. The following question was raised on NFL.com, 'Tom Brady-Bill Belichick legacy hurt by latest playoff failure?'

A few analysts voiced their opinions and basically they go as follows;
1. Since 2004, the Patriots have still been dominant
2. The Brady & Belichick's legacy will always be considered great
3. Spygate casts a shadow...
4. Brady/Belichick are great, but not greatest

I definitely urge you to check out the article yourself (link above) and really think about what your stance on this great coach/QB combo is. For myself, I decided to take a step back from my extremely biased standpoint and try to give an opinion that did not favor the Patriots greats... Not surprisingly, I still find myself defending everything that these two have done.

Brady and Belichick took and continue to take the Patriots to a level of success that most franchises have trouble even dreaming about; won 3 Super Bowls in four years, 16-0 regular season, two additional AFC Championships, countless NFL records on top of consistent success. The list of accomplishments would take up multiple pages so I decided to limit myself on that. The point is, this legendary combo is already arguably the greatest in NFL history, and one more Super Bowl would solidify that label. As Greg Rosenthal of NFL.com said however, "they are running out of chances for that".
