2013 Over/Under: Chandler Jones Sacks
OVER/UNDER: 12 sacks (Regular Season)
Prediction- Over (14 sacks): I'm pegging Chandler Jones for 14 sacks this year. Last season, he was an immediate starter and in Game 1 had a strip-sack which was recovered for a touchdown by fellow rookie Dont'a Hightower. He had another forced fumble a week later and in the early-mid season he was a leading candidate for defensive rookie of the year.
Despite playing in 14 total games, much of the second-half of Chandler's season was spent dealing with a nagging ankle injury, causing a noticeable drop-off in his performance. But when he was healthy, he was a monster, disrupting the quarterback and being generally unblockable by those opposite him.
He finished 2012 with 6 sacks, including 3 first fumbles, but I see this year as the one where he goes above and beyond that mark and establishes himself as one of the league's premier young pass rushers. Jones will undoubtedly be an important piece of this year's defensive unit. Hopefully some of that MMA training with his brother with help.
