Richard Sherman says "half the league" uses this drug
Patriots fan's favorite player Richard Sherman has come out and said half of the NFL uses the ADHD medicine, adderall, which is a banned substance in the league. Sherman was suspended 4 games last season for a failed drug test that showed a link with adderrall, but had the suspension retracted after the league found "irregularities" in the testing. He went as far as saying the drug should be removed from the list of banned substances:
“About half the league takes it and the league has to allow it. The league made a mistake in my case. Obviously, I didn’t do anything, but you have to go through a process to prove you didn’t do anything. There are still naysayers out there who don’t believe me. But I accept it. If everybody loves you, it probably means you’re not much of a player."
Remember, Aqib Talib was in the middle of a suspension for adderrall use when he was traded to the Patriots. Also Jermaine Cunningham served a four game suspension last season for the drug, and Brandon Bolden was suspended four games for an unspecified PED, possibly adderrall.
Obviously if Sherman's claim is true we should have, or will see many more suspensions to come. Should adderrall be legal in the league? IT IS LEGAL IN THE LEAGUE! It's legal for players who actually have a need for the drug. If you don't have a prescription, it is already illegal with the LAW to be taking a prescription drug without a prescription. So Sherman, ignorant as always, has no idea when he says, "the league has to allow it." If half of America is doing cocaine does the government have to allow it?
Former Patriots running back Heath Evans made a great point about adderall use and suspensions:
"It's a hassle to file all that paperwork, but it's very, very simple. So, with the Adderall and the Ritalin, if the players get busted for that stuff, they're just stupid. You know what? It's their fault, they should be suspended for four games just for being dumb. Not for taking Ritalin or Adderall - you're suspended for four weeks because you're an idiot."Whats your take on this adderall issue? Talk with me on twitter! @joeloobs @patriotslife
