The Dolphins might've given the Patriots who they needed
With the Dolphins making all these major movies in the last three hours, some might be getting a little worried about playing them twice this year. Like, 2% worried maybe.
While the Dolphins have made a big addition with ex-Ravens linebacker Dannell Elerbe, they also made a subtraction - Karlos Dansby.
Dansby was the Dolphins' big name signing a few years ago, as he came over from the Cardinals. The Ellerbe signing renders him a redundancy on a Dolphins team full of talented linebackers.
Of course, shelling out huge cash for the young Ellerbe so you can get rid of Dansby probably doesn't mean the Phins think very highly of the veteran. However, he could be what the New England Patriots need depending on how much the 31 year old has left.
Dansby is a coverage linebacker. Something the Patriots desperately need. Dont'a Hightower, Jerod Mayo and Brandon Spikes are great, but none of them are terrific covering the pass. You've seen them victimized early and often by opponent's passing games. It's easy to forget, but it wasn't just the secondary giving up plays.
Enter Karlos Dansby. The veteran who could come in at a bargain rate at a position no one had pegged as a dire need. Sound like a Patriots type move to you?
