Greg Jennings signs with Vikings

Greg Jennings has inked a 5 year, 47-million dollar deal with the Minnesota Vikings tonight, with 18 million of that money guaranteed. Aside from Mike Wallace, Jennings was the most sought after receiver in this year's free agency pool of receivers, and countless Patriots fans fawned over him as a potential outside-the-numbers threat for the team.

But it never really seemed likely New England was going to bring in Jennings, and instead have opted to go the more conservative route by looking to re-structure Brandon Lloyd's contract, and bring in unproven former Bill's wideout Donald Jones. And of course, their biggest move was adding Danny Amendola.

One of the league's best receivers when healthy, Greg Jennings will be playing in Minnesota next season

And at this moment thousands of Packers and Patriots fans are connected by a feeling of disappointment and sadness; both forced to watch their primary pass-catchers and respective QB's favorite targets leave to play for a bitter rival. Worse for Packers fans is that it's within the division, and it is even being reported that in this deal Jennings may have left money on the table in Green Bay. Why he would do that and opt to catch passes from Christian Ponder over Aaron Rodgers is a bit of a mystery, as it would seem to diminish his potential to continue at the elite level he was at in Green Bay.

He missed much of last season with a groin injury but has been among the league's best receivers the past few years. However he has had the luxury of having perhaps the best arm in the league throwing to him. It will be interesting to see what level he will produce at with Ponder behind center. My guess is a significant drop off.

So cross Greg Jennings off your Patriots wish list. With a free agent pool of receivers now significantly depleted, I know cry even louder than just a few days ago... Bring in Danario!
