The Patriots traded a seventh round pick for Greg Salas earlier this year after they cut Deion Branch on final roster cuts. Not much later, they waived Greg Salas and added Deion Branch. Last week, they cut Branch and added Salas followed by waiving Salas and activated Mark Zusevics.
You would have assumed that the Patriots were hoping that Salas would fall back onto their practice squad, but that wasn't the case.
It seems like a wasted trade for the Patriots, even though it was only a seventh rounder.
With Julian Edelman ailing, the Patriots have only two wide receivers on the roster (not counting special teams captain Matthew Slater). You would assume they might bring Deion Branch back or even consider Jabar Gaffney who was recently waived by the Dolphins.
