Antonio Cromartie thinks the New York Jets are making the playoffs
As New England Patriots fans we seem to always have the Jets in our peripheral vision and it's always interesting to hear the things they're saying. One of their frequent mouth-runners is Antonio Cromartie and he was doing just that Thursday morning on NFL AM, according to ProFootballTalk.
“The Jets will make the playoffs this year,” Cromartie said. “We believe in each other, we believe in what coach Ryan and his staff is putting us to schemes and stuff, so we’re definitely going to make the playoffs this year.”
I'm no expert on the Jets, but a lot of things would have to happen for the Jets to make the playoffs. With the way the AFC is shaping up with Houston, Baltimore, Pittsburgh, Denver and even the surprising Indianapolis, Cromartie is basically counting on the Patriots and the Miami Dolphins to fall off in the AFC East, and I'm pretty sure I know one of those two teams who will certainly not be ending the season with a worse record than the Jets.
Also, Cromartie would have to be banking on the Jets actually making a run. Half their defense is hurt, Shonn Greene stinks and Mark Sanchez hasn't been completely terrible but he's still Mark Sanchez. They do have a fairly cushy schedule the rest of the way, though. The Pats are really the only legitimate threat they have left on their schedule and they have them in MetLife Stadium. I'm pretty sure Cromartie is wrong here, but I've been wrong before.
