Wes Welker: 'Nice to stick it in Bill's face'
CSNNE:
Hah!
Well this is one of two things, either Welker is actually taking a (friendly?) shot at Belichick here, or he's referring to Mike Felger's support of all the conspiracy theories surrounding Welker and his contract situation.
The story has been well covered by now, but in the first two games Welker saw his playing time dip. An overblown story being that Julian Edelman had risen above Welker on the depth chat (a myth not a fact, Welker played more snaps).
Either way, once Aaron Hernandez went down, the controversy ceased. Welker has had great games in every week except Week 1.
The conspiracy theory, referenced above, was that Belichick and the Patriots were limiting Welker to help with contract negotiations. Which is absolutely absurd.
Welker left things wide open with his comments, but I see what he said as more of a sarcastic jab at Felger and the media than a literal jab at his coach.
What say you?
CSNNE's Mike Felger asked Welker how it felt to come out and grab 13 balls on Sunday compared to just the three receptions he had in Week 1.
"Yeah it's kind of nice to stick it in Bill's face once in a while," Welker said with a smile and wink. "So this is definitely a good one."
