Rex Ryan wanted to draft Chandler Jones

 As if there aren't enough storylines leading up to the New England Patriots - New York Jets showdown this afternoon, it has recently surfaced that the Rex Ryan showed a lot of interest in drafting rookie defender Chandler Jones.

While Chandler Jones looks like an NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year candidate in New England, Quinton Coples has struggled to get on the field in New York. The Jets took Coples five spots ahead of Jones. But it might not have happened that way if Jets coach Rex Ryan got his wish.

Shalise Manza Young of the Boston Globe reported that Ryan told Jones the Jets would draft him. But Rex was overruled. Jones would only disclose that the Jets showed "a lot of interest" in him.
