Dane Fletcher clears waivers, what that means for Pats

Patriots linebacker Dane Fletcher cleared waivers on Tuesday, according to Greg A. Bedard of The Boston Globe.

Fletcher is now on the team's injured reserve list, and does not count against the 90-man roster limit.

In case you didn't hear, Dane Fletcher tore his ACL and then was waived by the Pats.

The Patriots were hoping that nobody would go and pull a Patriots on them and claim an injured player just for their rights.

Luckily, it worked out for them. Though I was worried the LB needy Giants would claim Fletcher out of revenge for the Pats claiming Jake Ballard earlier this summer.

This is the final year of Fletcher's contract so next year the team will have to decide whether or not to sign his restricted free agent tender.
