Rex Ryan takes a page from Bill Belichick's book

Bill Belichick wasn’t the only coach in the division to use practice jerseys as a coaching tool. In the Jets’ final minicamp practice, Rex Ryan replaced the green jerseys with white numbers usually worn by the defense and had defenders wearing black jerseys instead. Ryan said black jerseys will be awarded throughout the season to position groups that perform the best in the prior practice. This is similar to what the Patriots have done with their practice players of the week.

Belichick has been giving out black jerseys for "practice players of the week" for years now. Mike Reiss of ESPNBoston usually documents what players are awarded those jerseys.

As far as similarities go, this might be as far as the two coaches go. I wouldn't expect Rex Ryan to start saying the Jets are taking it a game at a time, treating every team they play like the best team in the world and categorize every injury as "day to day".
