Dennard is a unique seventh rounder, he played alongside Prince Amukamara at Nebraska, who was a first round pick of the Giants last year. Dennard was seen as one of the top talents in this year's NFL Draft and had a high grade. However, an incident in which he punched a policeman the week of the draft caused his draft stock to severely drop.
The Patriots picking him up in the seventh round was seen as an extreme value pick, as Dennard is supposed to have the talent to be a starting corner in the NFL.
