Goodell says Pro Bowl to return
The Pro Bowl will be back before the 2012 Superbowl, according to Rodger Goodell. This comes as a bit of a surprise with the lack of effort in the Pro Bowl in recent years, but nonetheless having the Pro Bowl back for one more year means more football with the best of the best, which fans still love. So lets take a look at who we can expect to see from the New England Patriots make the AFC roster for the 2013 Pro Bowl.
Tom Brady has arguably been the AFC's best quarterback for years and this year should be no different, barring injury. He has a top 5 offensive line back in front of him with 4 Pro Bowl players lined up in front of him under center.
Wes Welker has ended his holdout and will be back catching passes from Brady all over the field for at least one more season with the signing of his 9.5 million dollar franchise tag. With that being said, its safe to assume another 75 catches and at least 1000 yards this season from Welker as long as he can remain healthy.
Rob Gronkowski will also be paying a visit to Hawaii in 2013 if he is fully recovered from his ligament damage in his ankle that he suffered in the playoffs last year from hard hitting Baltimore Ravens safety Bernard Pollard that continued to hinder his performance even in the Super Bowl. With "Gronk" fast becoming Brady's favorite target, its safe to say he could have another 10-15 touchdown catches this season and have his 3rd Pro Bowl appearance in as many years.
Logan Mankins has been the heart and soul of this offensive line since he was taken in the first round with the 32nd pick of the 2005 draft, He is big, strong, and smart, and keeps his head on a swivel for pass rushers in protection and always seems to be moving his man backwards on run plays. He and Nate Soldier will team up to protect Brady's blind side full time now with the departure of Matt Light this off-season due to retirement.
Brian Waters is arguably the best right guard in the AFC. He has been to 7 Pro Bowls since the 2004 season and even at age 35 will undoubtedly take one last Hawaiian vacation on Rodger Goodell.
These 5 players are some of the best the game has to offer and I believe their names will be on the 2013 Pro Bowl roster. This is once again going to be one of the most potent offenses in the league and guys like left tackle Nate Soldier, wide receiver Brandon Lloyd, and tight end Aaron Harnandez have an equally exceptional chance to make the Pro Bowl as well. This team has put together an offensive powerhouse and will demonstrate what it means to be an effective offense again this year.
